Rihanna was not playing games when it came to Snapchat – Rih Rih who recently just passed 2 billion worldwide streams on Apple, was the target of a meme advertised on Snapchat that promoted domestic violence.
The meme featured Rihanna and her ex, Chris Brown, asking users if they would rather “Slap Rhianna” or “Punch Chris Brown”.
Is it just me, or is this ad that popped up on my Snapchat extremely tone deaf? Like what were they thinking with this? pic.twitter.com/7kP9RHcgNG

Rihanna took to Instagram stories to voice her feelings about the matter.
“Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain’t my fav app out there! But I’m just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess!” Rihanna wrote. “I’d love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain’t that dumb! You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV victims and made a joke of it!!!”
She wasn’t personally upset about the meme, she was upset that Snapchat was promoting domestic violence to those who have been victims and to those still struggling with it. She made it very clear that she will not be accepting Snapchat’s “app-olgy”.

The use of Snapchat declined after they released the most hated update AND Kylie Jenner’s tweet in February, “ does anyone else not open Snapchat anymore? or is it just me…ugh this is so sad.” didn’t help Snap’s stock either. Now after this insensitive stunt, who knows if Snapchat will ever be able to bounce back.
